Msnbc.com is looking for a razor-sharp associate business editor to help develop, manage and produce content. At least five years’ daily business news experience required; at least two years’ online experience preferred. Successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to manage and produce business news packages and projects that appeal to a mass-market audience. Job requires an instinctive ability to understand what stories appeal to online news readers and to move quickly to meet the needs of a 24-hour news cycle.

Must have strong demonstrated ability to write news copy and headlines. Looking for someone with a strong personality with persuasive powers to promote content, yet able to work comfortably with a small team of co-equals. Job will be based in New York or Redmond, Washington. Pay commensurate with experience, including a benefits package that is well above industry standards.

NBC News, Web Editor/Producer
NBC News is looking for an editor/producer for www.msnbc.com, one of the largest news Web sites in the United States, to work out of our London office. It is a temporary 6 month position.

The candidate needs to juggle multiple editorial tasks in a fast-paced environment, work closely with the msnbc.com bureaus in the United States while demonstrating a keen understanding of a variety of topics – hard news including American election coverage, business, sports, entertainment, etc. – that would interest a U.S. audience.

The candidate must:

Be able to quickly write and edit daily and breaking news stories including material from NBC News, wire services, or other content partners.
Know how to collaborate with other teams, including multimedia and video editors, to enhance top stories.
Have worked for least five years in national- and international-level news, with Web experience preferred.

The position is based initially at the NBC bureau in Hammersmith and later will be located at NBC’s new facilities in Gray’s Inn Road, central London. The position will involve weekend work.

Controller
Msnbc.com is looking for a Controller. This person will be responsible for directing an organization's accounting and budget management functions and ensuring company accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles. Functions include establishing and maintaining the organization's accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives, and controlling costs. Prepares financial reports and presents findings and recommendations to top management. Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others.

Detailed responsibilities:

Direct and coordinate company accounting and budget management functions.
Recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance of divisions and departments.
Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget.
Prepare and distribute monthly, quarterly and annual internal financial statements and forecasts, including presentations for the Company’s Board of Directors
Work with department managers and corporate staff to develop budget plans for the company.
Serve on company resource allocation committee
Serve as primary liaison for company accounting issues
Serve as primary finance contact with Company’s parents, and work with various contacts in the parents’ organizations to ensure the smooth transfer of financial information between the parents and the Company.
Perform various calculations pursuant to Company compensation plans as needed.
Manage and direct annual financial audit.

Requires a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, CPA desired. 10+ years increasingly responsible experience in Accounting, with 5+ years of management responsibility. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to establish credibility. Demonstrated ability to interact with diverse personalities at all levels of the organization. Ability to handle multiple competing priorities and duties in a rapidly changing business environment. Effective decision maker. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
