T.O. sports Eagles shirt
Terrell Owens gave a halftime interview on the NFL Network in which he discussed his frustration with his role in the Cowboys offense and sported a green T-shirt with an eagle on it. Perhaps he was sending subtle signals that he’d like a reunion in Philly? And if so, has he watched the Eagles lately? Also, does he remember what happened last time he was in Philly? Of course, it’s possible he’s just a big fan of birds of prey and the color green. Not to be outdone, interviewer Deion Sanders flaunted a glorious Cliff Huxtable sweater. (Pro Football Talk, Yahoo)

Incognito rips Rams fans
Rams guard Richie Incognito had some choice words for his teams fans as St. Louis prepares for a heavy influx of Bears fans from the north, as was the case when the teams played there two years ago. “We know how our fans feel about us, that's fine,” Incognito said. “It's nice to have the other fans here. At least they cheer. Our fans get in their seats, they don't know how to cheer, when to cheer. We get the other team's fans coming in, and they cheer real nice for us. It provides for a good football atmosphere having the Chicago fans down here.” Incognito later acknowledged, in only a slight understatement, that Rams fans haven’t had much to cheer about this season. Blue Jays not giving up on Burnett?
The buzz has been primarily around the Yankees and Red Sox in the A.J. Burnett sweepstakes, but Burnett’s current team, the Blue Jays, is reportedly still in the running. After all, Burnett is looking for an insanely large five-year deal, and the Blue Jays have already shown they are capable of handing him one of those. (Toronto Sun)

Mets targeting J.J. Putz?
The Mets have reportedly shifted their focus in the never-ending saga that has been their closer search to Seattle’s J.J. Putz, who is signed for $5 million in 2009 with an $8.6 million option in 2010. That’s a far more reasonable sum than the hefty contracts top free agents Francisco Rodriguez and Brian Fuentes reportedly expect. Oh, to think of the fun the New York Post headline writers could have with a Mets closer named “Putz”. (Rocky Mountain News)

Cuban still owes Don Nelson
Mavericks owner Mark Cuban reportedly has yet to pay former coach Don Nelson, now with the Warriors, the $7.1 million it was determined Cuban owed him in a July arbitration hearing. No wonder Cuban is going around (allegedly) engaging in insider trading with all of these old coaches out there taking his money.

Curry showing ‘lack of desire’?
Eddie Curry, who has missed two weeks of practice with a sore knee and has not played in a game yet this season, is reportedly frustrating the team by not pushing himself hard enough to return to the court. One team source noted a “lack of desire.” Perhaps if the court contained a table full of pizzas, Curry might find the motivation? (Newsday)

Lecavalier denies leading revolt against Melrose
Lightning center Vinny Lecavalier has denied a report that he was the ringleader of a player revolt that sparked Tampa Bay ownership to fire first-year coach Barry Melrose. “I didn't do it, I don't think anybody else did it,” he said. Hmm … doesn’t think anyone else did it? That would seem to leave the door open to another player leading the charge, we’re looking at you, Martin St. Louis! (Tampa Bay Online)
