John W. Schoen

Senior business producer

John W. Schoen has reported and written about business and financial news for more than 25 years. He began his career as a newspaper reporter and editor in Connecticut, moving to Dow Jones as radio newscaster and writer for The Wall Street Journal. As a reporter for the CBS Radio Network and public radio's Marketplace, he covered Wall Street's insider trading scandals and the Crash of '87. He joined CNBC several months before it went on the air in 1989 and ran the network's newsdesk during the early 1990s. In 1996 Schoen joined MSNBC.com as a senior producer helping to launch the site, and he continues to write about a variety of business topics. He and his wife live in Connecticut. In 2008, his series The Mortgage Mess won a Best in Business Journalism award from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers. Schoen was a 2005 finalist for the Gerald Loeb Awards for Distinguished Business and Financial Journalism.
